Polynucleotide Injections

What are polynucleotide injections?

Polynucleotide injections are a regenerative aesthetic treatment designed to enhance the health and appearance of your skin from within. They involve injecting polynucleotides, which are DNA fragments, into the skin to stimulate natural repair processes. These injections are known for improving skin texture, elasticity, hydration, and tone.

Polynucleotides are long chains of nucleotides, the natural building blocks of DNA and RNA. In aesthetics, they are often derived from purified salmon DNA due to its high biocompatibility with human tissue.

Polynucleotides stimulate fibroblasts, which are skin cells responsible for producing collagen and elastin. By boosting these structural proteins, the treatment helps to firm and strengthen the skin, improving its elasticity and resilience.

Do I need a consultation?

Whilst it is not a legal requirement for this treatment to undergo a consultation, it is best practice to complete one prior to treatment.

Consultations allow me to assess the suitability for treatment and can help me determine that it is the right treatment to meet your skin needs. Consultations also allow me to ensure that the treatment is medically safe for you and that there are no contraindications or medication interactions.

There are also a number of polynucleotide treatments on the market. A consultation will allow me to ensure that the most appropriate product is ordered from the pharmacy for your treatment.

Consultations for these treatments can take place either virtually or face-to-face in the comfort of your own home.

Can the treatment be the same day as consultation?

Whilst this is possible with pre-planning, it is not advisable and not best practice.

I don't keep stock of injectable treatments and as such consultations allow me to order the product to be used from the pharmacy.

However, the whole process should only take a few days and then treatment can take place.

What should I expect during the treatment?

As the treatment is completed in the comfort of your own home there will be some initial setup required by Nurse Lee. This will include setting up a seating area, ensuring the treatment area is clean and preparing of the treatment. You will also complete a consent to treatment document and photographs will be taken.

Once this is completed and you are comfortable, a medical cleanse of your skin will be completed to reduce the risk of infection. A pre-injection reassessment will be carried out of the skin areas to target and a recap of the planned treatment with yourself.

The treatment will start and using a very fine needle, small amounts of polynucleotide will be injected into the areas that are to be targeted. The procedure can be uncomfortable for some people. You may also have some very small bumps and redness in the treated area immediately after the treatment is completed, you should expect these to resolve of the next few hours.

Once treatment is complete, you will be reminded of the aftercare advice.

I cover the following areas Halesowen, Dudley, Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Worcester & Kidderminster.

When will I expect to see results?

You can expect to see initial improvements in your skin's hydration and radiance within 1 to 2 weeks after the first polynucleotide treatment session. Full results, including enhanced elasticity and reduced fine lines, will typically develop after 4 to 6 weeks as collagen remodeling occurs.

Timeline of Expected Results

  • Initial Improvements: Noticeable improvements in skin texture and hydration can appear within a few weeks.
  • Full Results: Most patients can expect their skin to look smoother, brighter, lifted, and more hydrated after 12 weeks. The product continues its effects for the first 12 weeks, progressively improving over time.
  • Maintenance: Results generally last for at least six months, after which annual maintenance treatments may be recommended.

For optimal results, most people will require an initial series of 2 to 4 sessions spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart. Maintenance sessions every 4 to 6 months will then be recommended to maintain the improvements.
